5 Steps 5 Keywords to mastering the Tarot.

“When I was young, there was no real starting place for learning the Tarot aside from the Suit definitions and the “Big and Small Secrets” clue that allegedly explained the Major and Minor Arcana. After that you simply plunged in and plowed your way though a myriad of confusing and often contradictory keywords and definitions for each card”.   from Anna Burroughs Cooks’ lecture  “Bringing the Tarot into the 21st Century” at the Mid-West Astrologers Conference May 1, 2010.

STEP ONE: Memorize Tarot Dynamics five basic keywords.

With Tarot Dynamics, choosing and using one keyword accompanied by a definition you can relate to is the first step towards enhancing rather than encumbering your intuition.

KARMA is the principle keyword that brings the entire Major Arcana into perspective--and Karma isn’t always just about doing good deeds for other people. It can be as simple as knowing when to leave well enough alone, or finally stepping up to the plate to confront a matter that we’ve been avoiding.

CHANGE is the principle keyword for each Wand card in the Tarot. Whatever the situation, Wands can help you accept the necessity of making some changes and adapt to others.

EMOTION is the principle keyword for each Cups card in the Tarot. Whatever the situation, Cups can enable you to keep maters flowing at an easy pace-- or freeze everything in its’ tracks.

CHALLENGE is the principle keyword for each Sword in the Tarot. Whatever the situation, Swords suggests that you to stop and consider whether you are moving in the best--or simply the most convenient direction.

AMBITION is the principle keywordfor each Pentacle in the Tarot. Whatever the situation, in addition to breaking new ground and planting new seeds, ambition also relates to reaping harvest – whether in the form of advantages or disadvantages.

STEP TWO: FOR NEW STUDENTS:  who are more serious than curious about mastering the Tarot, I strongly suggest memorizing the names and numbers of all seventy-eight Tarot Cards, in their Numerological order (i.e. numbers 1-78) Depending upon your schedule, it may take as little as three days, or perhaps a week; but once you can think of a random number, (for example 43)  and KNOW that it is the Three of Cups, you're on your way! For more information concerning the numerological sequence supported by Tarot Dynamics, please refer to my Links tab, specifically the link to the book entitled "NUMEROLOGY and THE DIVE TRIANGLE" by Faith Javane and Dusty Bunker.

STEP TWO FOR NEW STUDENTS: who are more curious than serious about studying the Tarot and uninterested in reading any Tarot decks aside from the one which you presently own, simply memorizing the first five keywords in Step One will suffice.

STEP TWO FOR MORE EXPERIENED READERS: who are more familiar and comfortable with esoteric sequence, should you choose to skip step two it will not interfere with your ability to enjoy or understand Tarot Dynamics. Since Tarot Dynamics subscribes to the Numerological sequence set forth by Faith Javane and Dusty Bunker in “Numerology and the Divine Triangle”, that is also why the Tarot Dynamics includes the Aces among the Court Cards.

STEP THREE:  Mastering the Major and Minor Arcana

Learning what you need to know about the Tarots two major categories is the second step in mastering the Tarot.

FOR NEW STUDENTS: since it’s always best to begin at the beginning please begin with the Major Arcana.

STEP FOUR: Understanding the Minor Arcanas’ Four Suits or Suites

The third step is to learn the functions of the four (4) suits or suites that comprise the Minor Arcana. (i.e. Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles)

STEP FIVE: Working With Court and Subject Cards

The fourth and final step is designed to increase your understanding of the purpose, function and versatility of the Court and Subject Cards, which form the two main divisions of the Minor Arcana.

FOR NEW STUDENTS: who are more serious than curious about mastering the Tarot, don't forget to click on the last link  to arrive at your Study Guide and begin memorizing the names and numbers of all seventy-eight Tarot Cards. Memorizing the names and numbers in groups of ten worked well for me. Don’t forget to test yourself as you go along! For your convenience, you may wish to refer to the TEST YOURSELF section that I shall be posting next week.
