“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” Author Unknown.

Hello, my name is Anna Cook. I’ve been reading and teaching the Tarot professionally for 32 years now. Tarot Dynamics is the first Tarot book that actually does take the guesswork out of learning and reading the Tarot, --no matter how long you’ve been reading the Tarot, or from whom you learned to read the Tarot. Tarot Dynamics is a means for reintroducing the Tarot to Todays' Readers --without undermining the Tarots' principles or completely rewriting it. To that end, Tarot Dynamics is bringing the Tarot into the 21st Century by offering explanations that provide a more practical and personal means of understanding the roles of the various cards that comprise each suit, and providing definitions that you can understand and apply to what’s happening in your life now.

“For students who are mastering the Tarot, excessive memorization can become extremely hazardous to their intuition.” from Anna Burroughs Cooks’ lecture “Bringing the Tarot into the 21st Century” at the Mid-West Astrologers Conference May 1, 2010.With five simple keywords accompanied by definitions that apply to todays situations Tarot Dynamics can bring the Tarot into the twenty-first century for even the most casual Tarot reader.

Unlike other methods for learning the Tarot, whose keywords, and/or key phrases often number in the hundreds, —or encourage you to memorize as many as one-hundred and fifty-six upright and reversed definitions, the COMPLETE Tarot Dynamics method requires only eighteen points of memorization:

  • Five basic keywords that cover the five categories, (Major Arcana, Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles) which comprise all seventy-eight card Tarot Decks.

  • Five universal character traits, to define all twenty Court Cards.

  • Nine short key phrases that unify and explain and purpose of Cards Two through Ten from any suit.

  • Nineteen key points of memorization*, accompanied by definitions for all seventy-eight Tarot Cards that encourage rather than inhibit your intuition because YOU can relate to what they suggest.

“The Tarot, CAN, enable us to unleash our intuitive faculties more quickly and easily than any other metaphysical science.Tarot definitions can and should prepare you for what lies ahead, but too often, people STILL end up relying on hindsight.” from Anna Burroughs Cooks’ lecture “Bringing the Tarot into the 21st Century” at the Mid-West Astrologers Conference May 1, 2010.

Whereas Tarot methods that present a myriad of “possible” scenarios which cover any and every life situation, also keep the reader/student reliant upon the authors definitions; those that offer an overwhelming variety of ways to look at each situation,  simply reinforce what the seeker wants or fears to be true -- which often conflicts with what they really need to know-- thereby repressing rather than releasing their intuition. Tarot Dynamics simply provides the more personal, or human function of each Tarot Card thus enabling the more experienced reader to round out the scope and accuracy of their reading, while providing an essential and stress-free starting point for students who also wish to use the Tarot as a means of enhancing their intuitive faculties.

That is also why Tarot Dynamics refrains from including any reference to esoteric symbolism. A more complete explanation concerning this topic can be found in my FAQ section that will also direct you to several links, in my Links section, to other Web-Sites that are devoted to esoteric symbolism.

“When was the last time you read a Tarot definition that you could understand and apply to what’s happening in your life now? When was the last time you read a Tarot definition that told you something you didn’t already know?” from Anna Burroughs Cooks’ lecture “Bringing the Tarot into the 21st Century” at Barnes & Noble Book May 8, 2010.

While many Tarot definitions still read like a jig-saw puzzle, others are so lavish, that the seeker needs a great deal of time to digest and correlate the various pieces of information.

Tarot-Dynamics’ concise and practical definitions for the Major and Minor Arcana provides the student, intermediate or adept reader with a remarkable amount of insight in a very short time--but don’t take my word for it, why not click on Sample 1 or 2 and see for yourself, just how “reader-friendly” Tarot Dynamics is?

*aside from the expected necessity of memorizing the names and numbers of all seventy-eight cards, which is a must for all serious students.
